The dark winter days are approaching again, but the residents of the Haven student tower won't have to worry about that. Team IGNITE has just installed its latest project, which will bring sunshine back to the new Haven student tower of Woonbedrijf on the TU/e campus.

The project, called Flare, is inspired by the experiences of some international team members who missed the sun in the Netherlands. That's why the team developed an innovative way to simulate the radiant sun using plexiglass and light. It utilizes both natural sunlight and LED lamps to make the sun shine day and night.

What makes Flare truly special is the interaction it enables between the residents. By integrating smart sensors, the light responds to the movements of the students, changing color as they move. When the residents are closer to each other, the light shifts from a cool to a warm tone. In this way, the interaction with Flare not only creates a warm and inviting environment, but also encourages social interaction among students. With Flare, Team IGNITE promises to provide a pleasant living experience for students and an enriching addition to campus life.
